VIPvillas are to launch their in-house booking system in May providing private holiday home owners with the ability to accept credit cards and trade online in real time. Not a revolution in technology you might think but the thought behind the system is unique with better rates for consumers the key. Managing director Andy Parr is pleased with the development. “We have been working on our system for over 12 months. The key to our offer is to remove banking and credit card charges to trade in foreign currency; both for the owner and consumer. We can save the consumer 10% per booking with the currency system. Property owners benefit from being able to provide ‘live’ prices, not set eighteen months in advance and then affected by currency rates, opening up their offer to 850 million consumers across Europe and the States.”
The company say an average saving of £200 per booking can be made.
Private villa owners can use the credit card payment facilities to improve consumer confidence, in the knowledge card payments are protected. They also save in bank transfer costs and cheque deposit when payments are made through other means.

Private rental holiday homes struggle with securing payments and bookings in a turbulent market place, so says Andy Parr of VIPvillas.com. “The travel sector has suffered more than other areas of the economy due to the weak Pound. We have analysed this and come up with a way to cut cost for private villa owners looking to rent. Our in-house payment system saves the owner administration time, currency and banking cost and improves their online visibility. Our system handles currency exchange, cutting out cost and it can be uploaded to many other websites improving visibility substantially, 25% is easily achievable.”
Trips out of the UK in 2009 were 15% down on 2008, according to the Office of National Statistics, detailing the struggle to compete for villa owners. “We have cut cost, not for us but for villa owners, enabling them to trade online, in three currencies, providing credit card consumer confidence and allowing live time availability for them,” says Mr Parr.

The downturn in the world economy has affected the travel industry. More so than the other sectors of the UK due to the weak position of the pound.
Some sectors are reporting increased activity on the first quarter of 2010 but the picture remains bleak. Consumer confidence is still yet to return and some suppliers are hanging on until after the General Election to analyse the impact.
VIPvillas.com has taken a different angle to improve consumer confidence when booking private villas. Managing Director Andy Parr comments, “We recognise the difficulties faced by private villa owners when trying to compete with tour operators. Owners need to be able to match their flexibility so we have developed a booking system to save on currency exchange and banking costs, administration functions and allow live booking facilities.” The system allows owners to show live prices, not set months in advance increasing currency fluctuation risk. With savings on administrating revenue the system provides owners with complete flexibility to adapt quickly.
The Cyprus holiday market has seen a reduction of 25% from the UK so owners there will be particularly interested to read how they can cut cost.
